The Swine Flu and Chiropractic Care

There is great concern worldwide due to the recent Swine Flu. Past history can teach us a great deal as to how to protect ourselves and our loved ones. Consider the statistics from the 1917-1918 Spanish Flu.

"The 1917 - 1918 influenza epidemic swept silently across the world bringing death and fear to homes in every land. Disease and pestilence, especially the epidemics, are little understood even now and many of the factors that spread them are still mysterious shadows, but in 1917-1918 almost nothing was known about prevention, protection, treatment or cure of influenza. The whole world stood at its mercy, or lack of it."

"Reports show that in New York City, during the influenza epidemic of 1918, out of every 10,000 cases medically treated, 950 died; and in every 10,000 pneumonia cases medically treated 6,400 died. These figures are exact, for in that city these are reportable diseases." "In the same epidemic, under drugless methods including Chiropractic care, only 25 patients died of influenza out of every 10,000 cases; and only 100 patients died of pneumonia out of every 10,000 cases.

Chiropractors got fantastic results from influenza patients while those under medical care died like flies all around." "Statistics reflect a most amazing, almost miraculous state of affairs."

What is the lesson here?  A healthy nervous system is your number one defense against outside germs and illness such as the flu.  Please feel free to ask the Doctor how Chiropractic care can benefit you and your loved ones.

Chiropractic and Pregnancy

Did you know?
Chiropractic can be utilized in all stages of pregnancy.  It is inexpensive, drug free, effective and the safest procedure that can be performed for an expectant mother.  Chiropractic adjustments seek to balance the joints of the body in order to normalize nerve function.  In restoring joint function, chiropractors are relieving nerve irritation which in turn relaxes muscles and the ligaments of the pelvis and uterus.

When the joints are happy, the expecting mother can expect decreased pain in the area treated.  Also, when the nerves are happy, life returns to the area, creating a sense of well being and improved health.  Pregnant women are receiving chiropractic care every day, yet there are no reports of adverse reactions in the literature.

Studies show chiropractic adjustments to be many times safer than taking Advil and other over-the-counter medications.  Precautions for the pregnant patient include the need for special technique to allow for baby and mother comfort.  This includes the use of a pregnancy pillow specially designed for the expectant mother and side posture adjusting.  Due to the special hormone profile of the pregnant patient that causes a decreased tone in the ligaments of her body, less force is often needed for manipulations.  Taking a detailed health history will reveal any other precautions that should be observed.

If you or a loved one are having difficulty during your pregnancy, or would like to discuss the benefits of Chiropractic care during this special time, please feel free to contact our office and any time and the above office number.

Antibiotic Use In Infants Linked to Asthma

New research indicates that children who receive antibiotics before their first birthday are significantly more likely to develop asthma by age 7. The study, published in the June issue of CHEST, the peer-reviewed journal of the American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP), reports that children receiving antibiotics in the first year of life were at greater risk for developing asthma by age 7 than those not receiving antibiotics.

The risk for asthma doubled in children receiving antibiotics for non respiratory infections, as well as in children who received multiple antibiotic courses and who did not live with a dog during the first year.

If you would like to discuss safe alternatives to Drug therapy for your Child, please feel free to talk with the Doctor at anytime.
